Spending time in hospital away from your family is always a tough experience, especially if you have to stay for an extended period of time. And, with the huge area that Grampian covers, it’s not always possible for your loved ones to just pop to the hospital for a visit.
The team at NHS Grampian’s Learning Disability Service had been thinking about this, and approached us with an idea to purchase folding a pair of folding beds for Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Woodend Hospital. These beds will allow relatives who want to stay with a loved one in hospital to get a good night’s sleep while being on hand to provide support.

While many rooms do have recliner chairs, these new beds are much more comfortable and practical, especially for who are elderly, who have their own health issues, or who are supporting a patient during a longer stay.
These beds have been funded by the generous donations people like you have made to our local hospitals. Thank you for helping make people’s time in hospital a little easier.
