Welcome to the NHS Grampian Endowment Fund
NHS Grampian Endowment Fund is the charity which safeguards donations made by patients, families and users of health services.
The Endowment Fund has strict criteria to make sure that donations are only used to enhance the services that NHS Grampian provides.
Everything the Endowment Fund supports must be for the benefit of patients. Our patients are at the heart of everything we do.
Making a Difference – locally
Your donations are used to “make a difference” to the care of patients and families. All the donations received are used in Grampian and stay local.
The Endowment Fund team works with a range of health care professionals, including doctors, nurses and service managers, to provide some of the most advanced medical equipment available. Endowment Funds also provide “extras” to make patients’ stays in hospital more comfortable.
The Endowment Fund has charitable funds to research all the major illnesses. For example, the Fund supports research in Grampian into heart disease, cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
The Endowment Fund also works with NHS Research and Development to award small grants to a range of research projects. Positive results from these smaller projects can lead to substantial funding from national research organisations.
Research is carried out at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, often in partnership with the University of Aberdeen. This valuable work helps to retain Aberdeen’s reputation as a centre of excellent health sciences research.
Charity regulation means that donations made by patients to thank staff can only be used in ways which demonstrate a “public benefit” . The Endowment Fund has many staff funds which support staff to undertake extra training and to attend seminars and conferences. This in turn enhances the care offered to patients.
Attending these events adds to the expertise of our doctors, nurses and health care professionals.
